Delaware County Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN)
is part of the national Family Promise ministry which helps homeless families with children. Union is one of the host congregations providing meals and overnight housing for up to 4 families with a maximum of 14 persons for a week at a time, 4-5 times per year. About 25 – 30 volunteers from the church and community spend 2-10 hours at a time preparing and serving meals and eating with our guests, playing games with the children, chatting with the parents, and sleeping overnight at the church. Families are at the churches from 6 pm to 7 am from Sunday evening to the following Sunday morning. This ministry has blessed many families and has also been a blessing to the church.
Other Mission Work
In addition to our work with IHN, the Church provides financial support for United Methodist missionaries around the world through our Connectional Ministry giving, which means that the missionaries do not have to raise their own support. We have a covenant mission connection with Becky Parsons, a church and community worker in Roanoke, Virginia, where she directs programs for children. Hands-on mission work includes making health, school, and birthing kits, packing backpacks of school supplies for low income children, providing new clothing for distribution to low income families, and providing food for local food pantries.
• Interfaith Hospitality Network – Hosting 4-5 weeks per year and other support.
• Hope Food Pantry support.
• CROP Walk participants.
• Methodist Home for Children – Cookies for the after school program and Christmas gifts for children.
• Unity Center – After school program and other support in Chester, PA.
• UMCOR emergency/support kits – health, school & birthing.

Union in Mission
We support disaster and refugee work through the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), which is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to alleviating human suffering around the globe. UMCOR's work reaches people in more than 80 countries, including the United States. They provide humanitarian relief when war, conflict, or natural disaster disrupt life to such an extent that communities are unable to recover on their own.
How Can I Help?
Send us an email if you have an interest in helping with any of our mission projects.
Before ever you made us, O Lord, you loved us. Your love has never slackened nor ever shall. In love all your works have begun, by love you sustain them and in your love our life is everlasting. So let the beginning and ending of all our loving be to see our God for ever and ever. Amen.
Angel of God, my Guardian dear, To whom God's love commits me here; Ever this day, be at my side To light and guard To rule and guide. -- Traditional
Father, we thank thee for the night, And for the pleasant morning light; For rest and food and loving care, And all that makes the day so fair. Help us to do the things we should, To be to others kind and good; In all we do, in work or play, To grow more loving every day. -- Rebecca Weston - 1890
